It had been obvious for some time that the patient needed the procedure performed.
The deterioration had been clearly visible for a an extended period.
There was little else we could do but operate as expediently as possible.
Like all muscles they become weak if seldom used or, as in the case of this patient, surrounded in fatty tissue that suffocates the arteries and lays waste to the capillaries.
The procedure began at 5.51 and was concluded at 9.17.
The patient had no next of kin.
